Bike Ride: Ironton Rail Trail

Join some fellow humanists for our first bike ride of the year. This trail has some surprising, beautiful and interesting structures along the way that are remnants of the railroad that was once there long ago. Very good for photographs and much to explore along the way. We will be biking the Spur section of the trail this time, (we did a hike last year on the loop section). The Spur has recently been expanded to about 4 miles in length, so the trip will be about 8 miles total.

This is considered an EASY trail. Flat, paved and plenty of stopping along the way should make it agreeable with most people's abilities. The 8 mile riding time takes less than an hour straight-through at at leisurely pace, but with stops it should take over 2 hours start to finish.

We meet at the Chestnut Street Parking lot. This is an amazing ride and is good as a first trip to start to get your bicycle muscles back in shape after the winter months. Visit the website at http://www.irontonrailtrail.org/
