This bystander intervention workshop custom-designed for Lehigh Valley Humanists will be a discussion-based training to identify and prepare for moments in real life where participants will feel more comfortable being an active bystander within their community. The hope is that this discussion will help the audience learn strategies and techniques to intervene directly or indirectly in both emergency and non-emergency situations. We will discuss real-life situations/scenarios, and the goal is to generate open, honest and non-judgmental discussions.
Lily Otu will be the facilitator for this event. She is the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development, Diversity and Inclusion at Muhlenberg College. Otu oversees student-athlete development, the bystander intervention program, Step Up! as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives.
This workshop is presented as an outreach of Lehigh Valley Humanists, for both members and the public at-large. While not required, donations will be accepted to subsidize the cost of the event.
Please note there is construction in the area. We suggest arriving early if you've never been to the location. Parking is available in the Community Deck accessible from 6th and Walnut Streets (both one way).
