Ironton Rail Trail Hike

It's springtime and LVH will be headed out to a great hike on the fabulous Ironton Rail Trail's Eastern Loop section.

This 5.6 mile hike is mostly flat and relatively easy. Don't let the easy part fool you - this small journey is filled with beautiful scenery and amazing relics of the Lehigh Valley's past to explore. We'll pass the famous Saylor Cement Kilns, along with old bridges, box cars, railroad equipment, and wildlife. Many great photo opportunities abound.

The trail is well maintained with asphalt and crushed stone - no mud or rocks to worry about; just bring good walking shoes. Great for families and strollers (just consider the 5.6 mile distance).

Walking time is 1 hour 40 minutes but will take a little longer depending on how many things we want to stop and see. This is the first in a series of hikes we will be having during the warm months, progressing in difficulty as we go. The Ironton Rail Trail is the perfect place to start to get into shape for later. Come on out, we'd love to see everyone there!
